Rachel Connelly

I am originally from Boiling Springs, SC where I graduated from Boiling Springs High School. I then went on to receive my B.S. in Biology at Erskine College. While enrolled, I participated and supervised research through a Clemson University grant. This research included looking at the abundance and diversity of small mammal populations at Ninety-Six Historic Site. I was also actively involved in the Biological Outreach Program at Erskine College, which was set-up to get children more interested in science and science related careers. While I was involved, the program was able to impact grades K-12 and over thirty different schools in the Abbeville, Greenwood, and Anderson County School Districts. This program gave me first-hand teaching experience in public school classrooms.

I am currently seeking my Masters at Coastal Carolina University in Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies. My research looks at the distribution of aquatic insect larvae and their reproductive responses to sunfish and forest canopy. I am especially interested in female oviposition site choice.

Other than school related activities, I love to go fishing to relax in my extra time. I am an avid animal lover and enjoy spending time field trialing dogs. I also enjoy spending time going on local mission trips, playing instruments, traveling with close friends, and playing sports.

I would not be here without the help of my family and friends which have blessed me with support and encouragement over the years.
