Whitney Ruppel

I am from a small town outside Milwaukee, WI. I graduated with a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in May 2008. I have always been interested in ecological studies and have a passion for the environment, which brought me to Coastal Carolina University to pursue a Master's in Science in the Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies program. I am currently working on a research project that examines the structure and function of coastal plain Blackwater streams. The project examines macroinvertebrate assemblages as well as leaf litter decomposition and leaf litter fungal biomass. I am enjoying working on my research project, but also enjoy exploring the Myrtle Beach area, beach days, concerts, and meeting new people.

Outside of educational interests, I love any activity involving the outdoors! When time permits, I enjoy camping, biking, running, canoeing, frisbee, and anything with friends and family. Upon finishing school, I look forward to starting an exciting career as well as traveling the world.

I am especially grateful for having such supportive and loving family and friends, I couldn't be here without them!!
