Welcome to the eli-wetlands mailinglist. eli-wetlands is maintained by the Environmental Law Institute as a public service to the environmental community. eli-wetlands is a forum for discussing the law, science, and management of wetlands, floodplains, and coastal water resources. eli-wetlands is moderated by Teresa Opheim. She can be reached at <topheim@aol.com>.
The Environmental Law Institute is an internationally recognized center for research and education on environmental policy, law, and management. A non-partisan, non-profit institution, ELI provides information, research, policy analysis, and training to a broad constituency of environmental professionals in government, the private bar, industry, environmental advocacy organizations, academia, and the media.
The Environmental Law Institute has provided wetlands professionals with the popular National Wetlands Newsletter since 1978. Other publications include the Wetlands Deskbook, Wetlands Mitigation Banking, and Our National Wetlands Heritage: A Protection Guide.
The annual National Wetlands Awards program, conducted with the support and cooperation of the Environmental Protection Agency, recognizes individuals across the country who have demonstrated outstanding innovation or dedication in education or outreach, scientific research, voluntary leadership, private land stewardship, or program management related to wetlands. Other activities include an annual conference on wetlands law with the American Legal Institute - American Bar Association (ALI - ABA) and support of the EPA Wetlands Hotline at 800-832-7828.
