I HAVE A "KINGFISH" ACCOUNT HERE AT CCU.

1. Downloading the File

Go to Dr. Gilman’s computer lab in the Science Building, and get on any of the Macintoshes.

Go to this web site:

http://www.wes.army.mil/el/wetlands/wlpubs.html
(Note: This opens a new browser window.)

You will now see a table with various publications listed in it. The manual will be near the bottom of the list: Publication Number WRP-Y-87-1. To download the manual, click on "wlman87.pdf". BEWARE: The file is over 1.4 megabytes in size, so it will take a while to download.

This file is in the "portable data format", which is readable only by a software program called Adobe Acrobat Reader. (The logo is for Adobe Systems, Inc.)

2. Opening the File

Don’t be too surprised if Acrobat Reader automatically opens the file right after downloading. If it doesn’t, and Netscape asks you to save it somewhere, save it to the Desktop. Now you can go to the Desktop, double-click it, and it should open in Acrobat Reader.

WARNING: Do not attempt to print the entire wetland delineation manual. It’s over 100 pages!!!

3. Saving the File on a Floppy Disk

If you’re a Macintosh person, you can save it to a floppy, since a Mac disk should be able to handle a file this size. If you’re trying to put it on a DOS-formatted floppy disk, things get complicated. Click here.
