While performing these activities students will

  • Apply the scientific method using technology in an inquiry setting
  • Study Barrier Island Change
    • Describe/discuss how coastal processes shape the coast
    • Identify in what ways the coastline has changed over time and discuss (based on these observations) any future changes that may be occurring
    • Calculate coastal erosion rates over time
    • Interpret data and infer/predict coastal change
  • Examine Living with the Coast
    • Describe coastal development over time.
    • Discuss how processes have affected coastal development over time and how people have affected coastal processes over time.
      • Identify major coastal features and discuss how they affect local residents
      • Describe /identify structures put in place to affect coastal processes and infer their effectiveness and purpose
